It's pretty normal to lay a dirt bike on it's side to replace the clutch, with all the oil in the engine. Some oil can seep into the cylinder which will cause some smoke on startup. Probably best to let it sit upright for a while so the oil can leak back down into the case. I've never transported a bike this way on purpose.
