Is maple covered by OHIP in Ontario?

While Maple in some cases is not covered by OHIP due to our use of secure messaging and a national network of doctors and nurse practitioners, we are covered by many private insurance plans. What specialists can I see with Maple in Ontario?

What does OHIP cover?

If you need to go to the hospital, OHIP covers: doctor and nursing services; services to diagnose what’s wrong (such as blood tests and x-rays) medications for in patients (once a patient is discharged, prescribed medications are not covered) some medications for out patients (certain limited medications are provided to out-patients for home use)

What services are not covered by OHIP?

OHIP does not cover: 1 prescription drugs provided in non-hospital settings ( e.g. antibiotics prescribed by your family doctor) 2 dental services provided in a dentist’s office 3 eyeglasses, contact lenses 4 laser eye surgery 5 cosmetic surgery

Is PrEP covered under OHIP+?

For those who are 24 or younger, PrEP is covered under OHIP+ if you have a valid health card number and prescription. PrEP is also covered for those 65+ by the Ontario Drug Benefit and under most private insurance plans.

Do I have to pay for maple?

Maple's Canadian-licensed doctors and nurse practitioners can treat many conditions online including bladder infections, UTIs, colds, flu, eye infections, sexual health issues including ED, vomiting, diarrhea, skin issues, and more. They can also provide prescriptions on Maple as needed.

Is Maple free in Alberta?

Residents of Alberta receive basic medical coverage under the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan. On demand GP visits are covered in this plan! You can see an online doctor in Alberta from the comfort of your home at no charge by connecting your AHCIP card with your Maple account.

Do you need a health card to use Maple?

You can access visits with a GP from your PC Health app on weekdays from 7am-10pm local time. If you've never talked to a Maple GP through your PC Health app before, Maple will ask for your health card number.

Will Maple prescribe antibiotics?

Absolutely! Doctors and nurse practitioners on Maple are able to prescribe almost any medication, excluding controlled substances (although some specialists can prescribe controlled substances in some cases).

Can Maple doctors prescribe benzodiazepines?

Our doctors cannot prescribe controlled medications such as narcotics. Some examples include: Narcotics, such as oxycodone, sold under brand names such as Percocet and OxyContin. Benzodiazepines, such as Lorazepam, sold under the brand name Ativan and others.

Is Maple free in NB?

Is Maple secure?

Maple uses AES 256 bit encryption to secure data stored at rest. Network traffic between your browser, apps, and our servers is encrypted using TLS 1.2. Maple does not process or store credit card information. Instead, we use Stripe, a certified PCI-DSS Level 1 payment platform.

Can Maple refer to specialist?

Doctors on Maple can provide referrals for paramedical services (like physiotherapists, massage therapy, chiropractors, etc.).

Sign in to your Maple account and select “HIV Risk and Prevention” from the menu of specialties.

Get your blood work requisition

You can download and print the lab requisition directly from Maple and take it to a lab of your choice at a time that works for you. As soon as your results are in, we’ll send you a notification. Timing typically depends on how quickly the lab processes tests.

Doctors

Whether you visit your doctor, or if you see one in a walk-in clinic, OHIP covers the full cost of your services – as long as they’re medically necessary.

Dental surgery in hospital

Some dental surgeries need to be performed in a hospital because they are complex and/or you have another medical condition that needs monitoring during the procedure.

Optometry (eye-health services)

OHIP covers the cost of one major eye exam (for vision and general eye health) every 12 months, plus any minor assessments you need, but only if you are:

Podiatry (foot-health services)

OHIP covers between $7-16 of each visit to a registered podiatrist up to $135 per patient per year, plus $30 for x-rays. You will need to pay for the remainder of the cost of each visit.

Ambulance services

If you need an ambulance for a medical emergency, OHIP covers part or all the costs depending on the circumstances.

Travel for northern-Ontario residents

If you have to travel long distance for specialized medical care and live in one of the following areas, OHIP might help pay for your travel and accommodation through the Northern Health Travel Grant:
