Brendan Fraser was the hero, a blue-collar football recruit who immediately thrives at prestigious St. Matt’s — until his WASP classmates discover that he’s Jewish. His viciously bigoted tormentor: Matt Damon. Caught in between were Chris O’Donnell and a slew of other baby-faced future stars, including Ben Affleck.

School Ties is a stirring movie with an important message about tolerance and fitting in. Bigotry is exposed as a manifestation of ignorance and cowardice.
