Steinbach has had a long-standing reputation as being a dry town - a place where liquor is not for sale. But that reputation might be a little tipsy. It's been years since you could belly up to the bar and buy someone a drink in Steinbach. That's a product of several referendums, four of them in the past 27 years.

Like other communities in the area south of Winnipeg, where there is a large Mennonite population, Hanover has considered allowing booze sales in the past.
