
I have been with the NFPT family for about a year now and have been impressed with how they treated me like family. They are quick to help when and with whatever area they can. The NFPT-CPT exam is designed to assess the understanding of fundamental exercise science principles and training methodologies for safe and effective fitness program design. The Certified Personal Trainer, CPT, designation assures a level of competency to stakeholders (i.e. consumer/public, employers and regulatory agencies) of on-the-job requirements of the Certified Personal Trainer. Successful completion requires that you demonstrate an understanding of general competency skills for job performance through NFPT’s legally defensible and expert developed examination. These skills include, but are not limited to, applied exercise science (e.g. anatomy, physiology, biomechanics), training methodologies and fitness components, injury treatment and prevention, and professional practices. Rather to pass this 'exam' you need to memorize all the bolded words from the manual and where they go as they relate to the human body, i.e. physiology, a natomy/bone s...etc. Do that and you will pass. Most of the test was on human anatomy and bones. Know them inside and out and you will do well. You can get practice exams/study guide/the manual and that will help, but memorization of the vocabulary is the way to go.
Is the kinesiology exam hard?
I just went in to take the exam. It was extremely difficult and absolutely nothing on the study guide was mentioned anywhere on the exam. It was all about anatomy and rarely any questions on actual exercise/kinesiology. Before you take this exam, make sure you memorize EVERY muscle in the human body and their anatomical positions or i guarantee you, you will fail.

I would recommend NASM or ACE over NFPT they at least focus on training and not as much on the anatomy. Maybe NFPT should train nurses instead.

I got asked to train a group of 15-20 seniors at a retirement home. The goal is to build in more movement in the residents’ daily lives. The participants are overall sedentary and not familiar with physical training. It will take place in a big cafetaria with chairs, some little balls and plastic bottles filled with sand. Theres also a stereo.
