Morrison Library, known as “the university’s living room,” is a frozen-in-time space within Doe where you can cozy up with a book or magazine or browse a selection of new releases. Moffitt Library, located in the heart of campus, is a hub for undergraduates that fosters collaboration and innovation, with spaces to create, study, and even nap.

Available to visitors to the libraries Most libraries are open to the public. Free basic Wi-Fi network access — this does not include access to Library-licensed resources, unless you have an eduroam account.

Can non Berkeley students use the library?

Visitors not affiliated with BerkeleyLaw or the University are welcome to use the Library and many of its resources. However, priority service is given to University of California students, faculty and staff. Although unaffiliated visitors may not check out materials, they may use them within the Library.

Are University of California libraries open to the public?

The Robin Li and Melissa Ma Science Library is open to both the Stanford community and visitors. All Stanford faculty, students, and staff are provided full reference and circulation services.

Do Berkeley students ride the BART for free?

Bear Transit provides conve- nient transportation between campus, Downtown Berkeley BART, parking lots, Clark Kerr campus, the Hill area, residence halls, and Campus Shared Services on 4th Street. Students, faculty, and staff can travel for free with their Cal1 Card; and members of the public may ride for a $1 fare.

Where is the Bancroft Library?

On the eastern side of Doe, The Bancroft Library, Berkeley ’s main special collections library, holds many one-of-a-kind treasures, including rich documentation of the West.

Is the Graphic Arts Loan Collection closed in 2021?

Art for your apartment (or dorm): Through the Graphic Arts Loan Collection, or GALC, Berkeley students, faculty, and staff can check out and take home stunning framed artworks, including original lithographs, etchings, and woodblock prints. GALC will be closed during the fall 2021 semester, with plans to start circulating art in time for the spring 2022 semester, as conditions allow.

Navy Finds More Radiation Data Falsification at Hunters Point from NBC Bay Area Internal emails from the California Department of Public Health uncovered by the NBC Bay Area Investigative Unit through a public records request in 2015 show regulators, including the Navy, had concerns that radiological scans on 22 buildings at Hunters Point “were collected too fast.” As a result, the California Department of Public Health suspended the release recommendations for those 22 buildings.

Is Bancroft Library a non-circulating library?

The Bancroft Library welcomes researchers from the University of California, Berkeley, from California, and from around the world. We are a non-circulating library and archives, so researchers must consult all materials in our reading room.

Is there parking at Bancroft Library?

If you are coming to visit The Bancroft Library, we recommend that you take public transportation as parking on campus is limited to those with permits and off-campus parking can be hard to find and expensive.

Does UCB have a parking placard?

There are limited parking accommodations on campus for drivers displaying legal disabled parking permits. On-campus parking requires a UCB parking permit in addition to a state-issued disabled parking placard. Please consult the UCB Parking and Transportation website and the Campus Access Guide for further information.

The Library buys and subscribes to both individual eBook titles and collections of eBooks available to campus-affiliated users and members of the public using public-access computers in the Library.

Downloading eBooks

Campus-affiliated users and members of the public on library public-access computers can often download some version or portion of library-licensed eBooks, but access varies by platform*. Those users can almost always read the entire book online, and can often download single chapters or a limited number of pages.
