Had a bad experience ordering from EU
I wanted to order two shirts from this site to Germany that I couldn't find on any European website. I was really excited at first. But then, I did not receive a shipment confirmation email from them. When I tracked my package via order number, it still worked though.
Awesome Customer Service!
I purchased a hoodie from the online store and it shipped super fast! When I opened the package, I noticed the hoodie had a red stain on it (likely from the graphic detailing on the hoodie itself). I called Customer Service and Morgan assisted me. He was so helpful, kind, professional and attentive.
Do not buy their underwear, no returns
Purchased 6 pair of boys Ethika boxer briefs online. Before the purchase there was zero indication they will not accept returns on underwear. My son tried 1 pair on and took them off bc they were ill fitting. I put the rest in the bag to return to store.
Everything good but Annoying confirmation

Can't recommend Zumiez to EU customers
We placed an order for about 480usd and Upon delivery we were asked to pay an additional 260€ (about 310usd) including an extra fee to be paid to DHL. Independently from the fact that clothes are of good quality etc, it is not worth buying from Zumiez from the EU as you will be seriously penalised.

Moral of my rant, support local! They’re genuine people, they won’t try to upsell you, and they know what they’re doing/talking about 100% of the time. Rant over. (Let me just say real quick too, the products and clothing there are usually really good quality. This is more about the people/experiences of a Zumiez store.)
How many employees know nothing about skateboarding?
That being said, switching to the skateboard side of it, 90% of employees there know absolutely nothing about skateboards or skateboarding. I was one of the 10% that did at my store. They like the culture, the look, the style, wearing thrasher shirts and not skating, that kind of thing. At the start of their time working there they have to pass a “skate knowledge” test based on a packet they give you to memorize. Which is the most basic skateboard facts like what wheels are and what trucks are and how they work. There’s signs posted up behind the skateboard counter showing them what to match with what and what to suggest that'll cost you the most money possible. They try to upsell you as much as they can and the most expensive parts possible so they can get that sweet commission. Plus they typically have no idea how to build the board if you want a custom set up. They’ll only know how to put it together cause they’re taught to, but they won’t know how to properly loosen or tighten your trucks or wheels for you, and most of them can’t grip decks to save their lives lol. (There may be some acceptions to this, like my old head manager there knew everything about skateboarding and was amazing at it, and was godlike at gripping decks, but still lol.)
Why are skate shops out of business?
1 they are ruthless often demanding exclusive rights to sell certain brands and in some cases this drives local skateshops out of business.

Zumiez is a REAL skate shop. It’s been open for years has all skating apparel and materiel such as boards too. They carry Vans, Obey, Huf, Ripndip, Thrasher, Diamond, Adidas, Nike SB, Sketchy Tank, Nixon, RVCV, etc. They even put on your grip tape for free if you purchase it. They’re known as a “Skating store” everything is pretty real than other shops.
Why are upstart trucks better than long established trucks?
Finally, look at upstart companies more than long-established ones - they generally have a better product because they can’t rely on brand recognition and reputation. This is especially true in the truck world as the process of making a truck is far harder than starting a deck brand (unlike making decks, you can’t really just go to a factory and get a lame graphic slapped onto a generic truck and pass it off as a new thing).
