Im extremely pleased with the results and recommend everyone to do this on their downpipes. The benefits of ceramic coating your exhaust include resistance to rusting, more resistance to heat/able to handle heat better/ and a much longer life of your pipes.
Is it worth wrapping an exhaust?
An exhaust wrap is a fantastic heat protection product. In addition to making your header look great exhaust wraps also give you performance enhancements. You will see a reduction in temperatures around the exhaust resulting in more horsepower. This increase in horsepower is down to increased engine efficiency.

Is ceramic coating heat resistant?
Ceramic is incredibly heat resistant, and it can withstand temperatures of 2,000 degrees Celsius, or 3,800 degrees Fahrenheit. ITC ceramic coatings can withstand up to 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit. This is why it's called high temp ceramic coating.
How long do exhaust wraps last?
The insulating properties of header wrap will help the scavenging process even more, because unlike ceramic, the material used in header wraps don't retain heat on the surface. DEI's Titanium wrap is resistant to chemicals and will retain its original color for the life of the wrap, which can be three to five years.
Does exhaust wrap change sound?
So, does exhaust wrap reduce noise? Exhaust wrap is not specifically designed to reduce the noise coming from a car's exhaust since its main purpose is to keep heat from escaping. However, the material has sound dampening effects that are able to reduce higher frequencies as opposed to lower frequencies.
Does exhaust wrap cause rust?
Will wrapping my exhaust pipes make them rust? Any mild steel exhaust pipe will rust over time with or without exhaust wrap. If you wrap any kind of tubing, we recommend our HT Silicone Coating to seal and protect the wrap and even the pipe you are wrapping by coating the pipe first, before you add the exhaust wrap.
Does heat wrap keep heat out?
The benefit of an exhaust heat wrap is that it reduces engine temperature. And the more heat you can remove from the bike, the better it will run. A heat wrap keeps the heat in the exhaust. From here, the exhaust can do a better job of dispelling it, resulting in a better running engine.
Does exhaust wrap Reduce heat?
Exhaust wraps can reduce up to 50% of the amount of heat radiated by exhaust pipes, while at the same time increase exhaust gas temperatures or EGTs. Increased EGTs lead to increased exhaust gas velocities, which improve exhaust system performance and scavenging of exhaust gases from the engine's cylinders.

Is it a good idea to wrap headers?
Header Wrap keeps the heat in the pipes. This improves exhaust flow and The Scavenging Effect. It also lowers underhood temps. Wrapped headers will make a little more Torque and Horsepower than a bare metal set.
Does exhaust wrap smell?
One of the most common problems related to motorcycle exhaust wrap that our customers ask us about is the foul-smelling smoke that comes off the exhaust heat shield wrap after installation.

Is it worth it to wrap headers?
ABOVE: Using exhaust wrap on header pipes and exhaust pipes helps to insulate them and reduce radiated heat. This also raises exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs) which increases exhaust gas velocity and improves engine performance. It also helps to reduce turbo lag and spool time on turbocharged applications.
Heat Wrapping Down Pipe go or no? | Subaru WRX Forum
Back about 2 months ago i swapped out my hks d/p for a massive txs style bellmouth d/p. and when i did my car started to run like ass hood was hott as hell, i assumed it was b/c the heat shield was no longer in use. so i wrapped the dp top to cat back flange and it seems to perform better.

What is the problem with manifold wraps?
The problem with the wraps is that they trap moisture on the header and cause corrosion. I also don't think the gains on a stock (cast iron) manifold would be all that beneficial. If you are interested, look into a coating by Swain or Jet-Hot."
What does it mean when exhaust gas is more heat retained?
edit: "2. more heat retained in the exhaust means higher pressure in the exhaust gas, which can mean higher exhaust gas velocity and energy, improving scavenging effects in the exhaust; also if turbocharged, more heat and pressure through the turbine."
Can a daily driver evaporate moisture?
If your car is a daily driver, I would assume that you would generate enough heat to evaporate any moisture. If your car isn't a DD then I can understand how trapped moisture will eventually lead to the deterioration of your DP.
Is a downpipe good for mods?
First they'll go stage 2 with a wrapped pipe and then after a year, they'll decide they need a rotated mount system and change their downpipe anyway. Downpipes are cheap enough and of good enough quality lately that the can almost be considered wear items. I know this is probably a little irresponsible of me to say but I feel like we're making a mountain out of a mole hill. I'm going to side with wrapped (sprayed or not) is going to be of more use to me than unwrapped.
Why heat wrap downpipe?
Personally, I heat-wrapped my Honda Civic’s downpipe to reduce the temperature in the engine bay and cause the exhaust gases to travel faster at higher temperatures. I did feel a drop in my car’s engine temperature, and it does behave better than it used to.

What is heat wrap?
Heat wrap simply hugs your downpipe and keeps the temperature on the inside. The temperature can even reach near 2000°F (1100°C), with its thermal insulating properties, it will not let you down.
Why does heat wrap crack?
Note: Heat causes expansion and this is a reason why heat wrap may crack or form holes.
Why is it important to keep heat out of the engine bay?
Keeping the heat out of the engine bay will definitely help extend the life and durability of the engine bay components and increase the efficiency of the radiators and coolers.
