As DECA’s competitive events specialist, Randi primarily authors role-play scenarios for the collegiate and high school division’s competitive events programs . She also serves as DECA’s liaison for the Virtual Business Challenge and Stock Market Game. Randi assists with the recruitment of judges for both the high school and collegiate International Career Development Conferences. Randi has worked for DECA since 1998.

Each of these events have been categorized into the career clusters of marketing, business management and administration, finance, hospitality and tourism, as well as personal financial literacy and entrepreneurship. DECA, Inc.'s competitive events consist of role plays events, written events, and online virtual business challenges. Each event is listed below and their descriptions can be found here.

How to get competitive in DECA?

If you’ve had a part-time job, an internship or any work experience, think about how that may help you in DECA’s competitive events. For example, if you have worked in the retail career field, then a retail event may be a perfect fit for you, because you can use the knowledge and skills you learned on the job when solving your challenge in your role-play or case study. Consider using your previous job experience to find a competitive event that matches your on-the-job training.

Let's look at a comparison between individual events and team events. Keep in mind, that at most association's state conferences will allow competitors to compete in 2 role play events as well as 2 written events. ​You can also compete in unlimited Virtual Business Challenges, along with the other DECA events you choose.
