YES! If you want to bring a cooler for in your room with some ice packs you can. In the wintertime if it is cold enough you can also store a cooler on the balcony of your room if you are not on the ground floor. A cooler may be handy if you are bringing food for multiple night stays.

YES! All rooms come with a “bigger” size mini fridge in the rooms. We have found it to be a good size for meals for 1-2 days. There is a small freezer section at the top, but I would not use it as a true freezer.

Even if your room isn’t ready, you can still check in at 1:00pm and use the facilities right away. We came with our suits already on and a pool bag ready to go. We were actually able to go directly to our room because it was ready but if it wasn’t we would have gone directly into the waterpark!

Scope out where you want to sit immediately. The first day we grabbed whatever chairs we could find because it was crowded! The seats are clustered together in two main areas but there are also tables with chairs throughout the waterpark. On the second day we managed to snag the one cabana that you don’t have to rent.

What are the activities at Great Wolf Lodge?
Many (including our Northern Cincinnati location) have miniature bowling, glow-in-the-dark mini golf, an arcade, and a number of interactive games that take place throughout the whole property. That said, we almost never do any of the additional activities during our short stays (usually only 1 or 2 nights), and I’m not sure we’d have much time if we wanted to! Having experienced many of them at least once though, I will say that the attractions offered are a lot of fun – and quite reasonably priced if something is appealing.
Why is the Waterpark limiting overnight guests?
The aforementioned policy limiting the use of the waterpark to overnight guests is specifically designed to prevent overcrowding and long lines. In our experience, I have to say it works. We have been in many different months of the year, including both off-peak times and on busy holiday weekends. I’ve never once felt like the public areas or pools were too crowded, or the lines too long.
When is the best time to visit Great Wolf Lodge?
Personally, we’re partial to visiting Great Wolf Lodge during the holidays; our favorite time to visit is between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I’m a sucker for the Christmas season anyway, and Great Wolf Lodges transform already beautiful hotels into stunning winter wonderlands. During their “Snowland” season, there are also additional lobby activities. You’ll even see it snow in the grand lobby several times each day!

Pool toys and inflatable toys are not permitted inside the waterparks. And while coolers are allowed in the resort, they are not permitted inside the waterpark area. Each room has a mini-fridge, so a cooler may not be entirely necessary.

TravelingMom Tip: Guests can bring their own life jackets for younger kids, but there are also life jackets and puddle jumpers available on a first-come, first-serve basis. We have never had any trouble getting an appropriate jacket for my kids at any point, but keep that in mind if you know you’ll absolutely need something specific.

Does Great Wolf Lodge have alcohol?
Yes, they have alcohol at Great Wolf Lodge. Even in the pool areas (indoor and outdoor)! You can get mixed drinks, wine and even Great Wolf growlers of beer. There’s a bar in the hotel, and you can also order drinks at the restaurant. That said, it was nice not to see drunk people stumbling around. And I recommend not drinking and then going on the water slide. There’s also a nice-size fridge in your room. We saw lots of people carting in coolers.
Can you leave jewelry in the water?
Leave your jewelry in the room before going on water slides (there’s a safe in the room). It’s easy to lose an earring or other valuable. If you find a pearl earring in the water slide area, it’s mine.
Can you charge food with electronic wristbands?
1. Your wristbands are room keys. No room keys! Your electronic wrist bands will get you into your room and let you charge food and items around the hotel. They do not give the kids these same wristbands, which means they can’t charge things (good), but they also can’t get into their room by themselves (bad).
Do you have to pay $15 for Magiquest?
Yes, to play the MagiQuest games, you need to pay $15 for the game. But the wand still opens things and lights things up. So if you’re low on time, or your kids are really young. Just use the wand for fun. That said, kids really enjoy the game, and it keeps them active (and tires them out).
