Make sure you’re are using the correct bit for wood. The bits tend to dull quickly. I like to keep new wood bits on hand. There are several attachments for the Rotozip.
The part I did that the Rotozip is not made to do
I wanted a circle groove to place the terrarium. The Rotozip is used with around 1/4 of the bit tip through the surface. Oops! But it worked okay.
Step 1: The Router Base Plate
I have added the sketch-up plan here that I printed out and taped to the 1/2" x6"x6" piece of polycarbonate scrap that I had. I tried several tools to cut the shape out, but the best was a band saw. for the outside and a Hole saw for the inside. The size of the hole saw was 2" I believe, but it isn't crucial.
Step 2: Tool Clamp
For this part I used a piece of PVC. Use a piece of tape to mark the holes on the base plate and transfer it to the clamp blank. The holes for the all-thread will be very slightly larger than the 3/8 inch drill bit (at most 1/32".) I used a 1 1/2" hole saw to create the middle hole. It was 1 1/2" for my tool but I think some may differ.
Step 3: Assembly
I used epoxy to thread the all-thread into the base plate. Use a square to try and get the all-thread at a perfect 90 from the base plate on all sides. put a nut on each piece of all thread to hold the clamp up at the desired level. Place the clamp on and secure with the other two nuts.
