The gills are some of the most metabolically active organs in fish and are involved in gas exchange, osmotic regulation, acid-base balance, and ammonia nitrogen waste excretion.
1. Introduction
The gills are numbered among the most metabolically active organs in fish and are responsible for gas exchange, osmotic regulation, acid-base balance, and ammonia nitrogen waste excretion ( Capaldo et al., 2019 ). However, fish gills are vulnerable as they are in direct contact with the water.
2. Materials and methods
The growth trial was as previously described ( Li et al., 2017) and is shown in the supplementary material (Table S1). The myo -inositol content in the basal diet was 39.2 mg/kg diet, which was calculated according to the concentrations of the ingredients.

4.1. Myo-inositol enhanced resistance to gill rot after F. columnare infection
