History
Daniel S. Tuttle, the Episcopal bishop, saw the need for a new hospital, and had St. Mark's built with contributions from local businessmen. The initial structure, constructed from adobe and consisting of 6 beds, began operating on April 30, 1872. It moved to larger facilities in 1879 and again in 1893.
