I did mine quite a while ago when it was a full-day thing, but I took my little cousin this past may and it was mostly waiting in line, listening to the NJDF&W instructor chat about safety (carrying, knowing target & beyond, etc), a small intro with NJ Conservation Police (NJ Game Wardens), and a shooting a few trap clays to demonstrate you can safely handle the firearm.
