I know this because we had a client back out on use for a bathroom shower install so after a year of it sitting in our storage trailer we decided to put it on display in our showroom. Before I realized it had changed color the guys already had it fully installed and were not going to remove it to replace it. So the yellowing your seeing is because of this. Non of our other showers that we have installed in the past have done this because they have not sat around covered up.

Onyx is pretty but yes it is more expensive and will scratch if abrasives are used on it. Currently we are primarily doing tile bases using Wedi pan systems and Spectraloc epoxy grout. Mix that with a porcelain tile and it is very durable, resistant to mold/mildew and looks fabulous.
