Let me walk you through how to make a DIY Grazing Table that will impress!

This is part two of a four-part series on how I planned out my Gratitude Party. Each post I’ll be covering the various details of the party, including:

Why do I think grazing tables are so amazing?

Personally, I think that grazing tables are gorgeous. I love all the colors and textures!

Budget

I’ve seen the local farm to table restaurants charge $25+ for a tiny charcuterie platter, so I was a bit worried that a grazing table for 100+ guests was not going to be realistic with my budget.

The Results

This was truly like an art installation and turned the head of EVERY guest who walked into our party.

Planning & Prep

Before the shopping can begin you need to think about your set-up, food safety, guest needs, and other considerations.

Securing the spread of deliciousness

I reached out to several local catering companies and got quotes ranging from $14-$20+ per person for grazing tables. That was way over my max budget for the whole party so I started thinking of other ways to make this magic happen!

Building the grazing table

The table needs variance in height! We were working on a table that is about 7 feet long (what my husband calls our feasting table), so it would have looked drab with everything laid flat. In wedding hacker fashion, I borrowed baskets, crates, platters, and cutting boards to create the “skeleton” of the grazing table.

How to make a grazing table?

In addition to the food, there are just a few non-food items you may need to complete your grazing table: 1 Toothpicks: Place these close to olives or other small items that can be skewered. 2 Serving tongs: Place these around the edges so that your guests can grab their items hands free. 3 Small plates: Enough for each of your guests to have two rounds of charcuterie. 4 Napkins: Cocktail sized napkins work great! 5 Spoons: 1 for each dip, jam or mustard. 6 Cheese knives: 1 for each whole block of cheese you plan to serve. I typically leave brie and blue cheese wedges whole.
