DESCRIPTION
JARDIANCE tablets contain empagliflozin, an orally-active inhibitor of the sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2).
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
The recommended dose of JARDIANCE is 10 mg once daily in the morning, taken with or without food. In patients tolerating JARDIANCE, the dose may be increased to 25 mg [see Clinical Studies ].
SIDE EFFECTS
The following important adverse reactions are described below and elsewhere in the labeling:
DRUG INTERACTIONS
Coadministration of empagliflozin with diuretics resulted in increased urine volume and frequency of voids, which might enhance the potential for volume depletion [see WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS ].
PRECAUTIONS
JARDIANCE causes intravascular volume contraction. Symptomatic hypotension may occur after initiating JARDIANCE [see ADVERSE REACTIONS] particularly in patients with renal impairment, the elderly, in patients with low systolic blood pressure, and in patients on diuretics.
OVERDOSE
In the event of an overdose with JARDIANCE, contact the Poison Control Center. Employ the usual supportive measures (e.g., remove unabsorbed material from the gastrointestinal tract, employ clinical monitoring, and institute supportive treatment) as dictated by the patient’s clinical status.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
History of serious hypersensitivity reaction to empagliflozin or any of the excipients in JARDIANCE [see WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS ].

JARDIANCE can cause serious side effects, including
Ketoacidosis (increased ketones in your blood or urine). Ketoacidosis is a serious condition which needs to be treated in the hospital. Ketoacidosis may lead to death. Ketoacidosis occurs in people with type 1 diabetes and can also occur in people with type 2 diabetes taking JARDIANCE, even if blood sugar is less than 250 mg/dL.
