eCore - short for electronic core-curriculum - allows University System of Georgia (USG) students the opportunity to complete a portion of the core classes in an online environment for student needing convenience and flexibility. eCore courses are taught entirely online, except for the occasional proctored exam.

What are eCore classes at KSU?

The goal of eCore courses is to make higher education more accessible within our state. eCore courses offer students the opportunity to complete undergraduate requirements in the General Education Core Curriculum Areas A-E completely online.

Is eCore covered by financial aid?

eCore courses are offered through SACSCOC-Accredited USG institutions and are eligible for the same types of financial aid as on campus courses. Students wishing to utilize Financial Aid for eCore courses should contact the Financial Aid Office at their home institution for further information.

What are eCore classes like?

Courses are asynchronous, not requiring students to log in at specific times however there is a syllabus and schedule to follow. Students are expected to read textbook assignments, participate in online discussions, complete faculty assigned projects online, and participate in lab experiments.

What are eCore classes GGC?

eCore is a USG collaborative program established to make higher education more accessible to Georgia students. Courses are available in English, mathematics, science, history and the social sciences – taught entirely online – except for the occasional proctored exam.

Are eCore classes asynchronous?

Convenience and Flexibility eCore courses are taught entirely online in an asynchronous format, which meanstudents are not required to log in for assigned “class times”.

Is eCore accredited?

Accredited Courses eCore courses are offered by several institutions within the USG. These institutions are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

Do eCore classes transfer to UGA?

Registration and Transferability Course credits earned by completing eCore courses are awarded by the student's home institution and are transferable within the USG as well as other regionally accredited institutions.

Is a textbook purchase required for an eCore course?

Course Materials With the exception of lab sciences, eCore courses utilize open educational resources and do not require you to purchase a textbook. Information on accessing these free resources is available within the courses.

Can you do GGC online?

Students can achieve that through online courses at GGC or a combination of GGC and eCore courses. eCore is an initiative within the University System of Georgia that provides an online campus for students who need a more generalized and expansive approach.

How do I access my eCore class?

eCore courses use GoVIEW as the learning management system. To use GoVIEW, students will need to remember basic login procedures including the appropriate website (https://go.view.usg.edu), the student's assigned username and the corresponding password.

All students must log into their eCore course by a posted deadline, typically within the first week the course is available online. It is strongly recommended that students login on the first day of the course. Participation deadlines and other important dates can be found on the eCore Course Calendar.

How many exams are required for ecore?

Each course requires up to two proctored exams (midterm and/or final). Each online eCore class has a syllabus and schedule to follow.

Can you start and stop an ecore course?

eCore courses are offered during traditional university semesters, therefore, one cannot start and stop at any time. Students are part of a course, and coursemates will count on one another to be active contributors.

The letter will be sent via your College email address. The letter that you should receive will include very important information such as how to buy books, how to get help, and how and when to logon.

Can you self register for ecore?

You can self-register for eCore course (s) through Banner Web just as you would for any class offered at Middle Georgia State University. However, to self-register you MUST have passed the Introduction Quiz with a grade of 80 or better AND all Banner Web Holds must be satisfied.

Is ecore tuition the same as on campus tuition?

The tuition for eCore classes is different from the tuition charged for on-campus courses.

Can students log into ecore?

Please note: Students cannot logon to their courses until the official first day of class. Although you will be unable to access your course (s) until the first day of class, you will be able to access your MyGeorgiaView page as well as the Student Guide to eCore, so go ahead and log in to be certain that your username and password work.

Exams in eCore classes work differently than exams in traditional, on-campus classes, because they require you to plan and schedule appointments at a testing center.

How long does it take to complete the ecore intro quiz?

After you have been admitted, you are ready to take the eCore introduction quiz. The eCore introduction quiz will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete and is required prior to registering for an eCore class. You must know your student ID number as well as your campus email address to complete the quiz.

How to register for ecore classes?

If the department for your major allows it, you can self-register for eCore course (s) through Banner Web just as you would for any class offered at Fort Valley University. However, to self-register you must have completed the eCore Introduction Quiz AND all Banner Web holds must be satisfied. If you have any Banner Web Holds, your academic advisor may be authorized to register you for eCore classes. If there are no sections available in Banner, check back in a few minutes to see if a seat has been opened up or contact your academic advisor. Students who have CPS Deficiencies or are in Learning Support cannot be registered for eCore classes.

How long does it take to get an email from ecore?

Upon completion, you will receive an email from eCore Administrative Services within 24-48 hours with instructions on how to register for an eCore class.

Do you have to be a transient to take ecore?

You must be fully admitted at Fort Valley State University in order to take eCore classes. A student, who is currently enrolled in another college or university and is not a degree seeking student at Fort Valley State University, will be admitted as a transient student. Students with CPC deficiencies or students with Learning Support requirements are not eligible for enrollment in eCore courses.
