Packer Use Cases

  1. Golden Image Creation: With packer, you can template the configurations required for a golden VM image that can be used across organizations.
  2. Monthly VM Patching: You can integrate Packer in your monthly VM image patching pipeline.
  3. Immutable Infrastructure: If you want to create an immutable infrastructure using VM images as a deployable artifact, you can use Packer in your CI/CD pipeline.

A packer is a realistic or semi-realistic looking penis made out of material like silicone (or even just a rolled up sock). It should be soft enough to sit comfortably against the body. Packing is about the shape it creates, or about feeling comfortable and confident, or just because you want to.

What does a packer do FTM?

What is Packing, and how do you do it? Those undergoing a female-to-male (FTM) transition will inevitably come across the act of packing (or at the very least hear about it). Packing involves creating a bulge in your pants with the use of a “packer” to emulate the look (and sometimes feel) of a penis.

How do you properly wear a Packer?

Packers can be tucked into snug underwear, or, placed into a sock and safety-pinned to pants or underwear, if you want to try packing without spending cash on specific packing straps. However, we also offer underwear-style harnesses, packing straps, and packing pouches.

Can a man wear a Packer?

Why are they called the Packers?

At the time, he was working at the local meatpacking plant, Indian Packing Company. He made $250 a month. When Lambeau formed his team, he asked his employer for a donation, to get uniforms and use the company football field. Indian Packing said sure, and so Lambeau put the company's name on the jersey.

What does packing mean in slang?

If you send someone packing, you make them go away. [informal] I decided I wanted to live alone and I sent him packing.

How do you wear STP?

Place the STP over your genitals where the seal contains your urethra without leaving a gap at the bottom - this is how spills happen. If you're wearing a harness this means all you need to do is ensure there's a tight seal while the harness keeps your STP in place.

What is a packer mascot?

Why don't the Packers have a mascot? Perhaps it's the nature of the nickname itself (how do you translate a meat packing reference into ... a giant foam mascot?) or the simple inertia of tradition, but the Packers are one of five NFL teams who came into the 2022 NFL season with no mascot.

What is a packer in oil and gas?

Production packers are an integral part of the completion process of an oil or a gas well. These are devices that seal the tubing to casing annulus and force the produced fluids from the wellbore into the completion tubing.

Why is Green Bay the Packers?

Lambeau, a shipping clerk for the Indian Packing Company, convinced his employer to donate money for the uniforms and, in the process, lent the nickname “Packers” to the team.

What is a packer malware?

In essence, a malware packer is a tool used to mask a malicious file. Packers can encrypt, compress or simply change the format of a malware file to make it look like something else entirely.

What is a packer?

What's a packer you ask? A "packer" is the term for any object used to create a bulge in a person's pants. Accordingly, "to pack" is the act of using a packer. When FTMs typically talk about packers, they're generally referring to prosthetic packers - packers made to look like an actual body part.

What is a prosthetic packer?

Prosthetic packers emulate the look and feel of a penis and come in a staggering variety of colors, sizes, and textures. Some prosthetic packers are incredibly realistic and rich in detail, with veins and sometimes even hair (yes, hair) while others retain the general shape of a penis, but have very little extra detail.

Why do people make their own prosthetic packers?

Because a lot of guys are looking for that degree of realism to help alleviate their dysphoria, prosthetic packers are very popular.  However, for a variety of reasons (financial, personal preference, safety, access), many guys choose to make their own packers, using all sorts of common household objects (socks, gel-filled condoms, etc). These packers can be perfectly suitable for some guys, and if you are hesitant to shell out money on your first prosthetic packer, making your own can be a great way to try out packing and determine if it's right for you.

What is a pack n play?

Finally, some prosthetic packers are made for the sole purpose of packing, while others have multiple functions such as standing to pee (also called an STP) or using for sexual play (also called a Pack N Play).

How does a packer work?

The one common feature found in this style of packer is that, once the element is sealed off and the packoff force is mechanically locked in place, the tubing string may be landed in compression, tension, or neutral. Slips located above and below the packing element (or a single set of bidirectional slips) are designed to hold axial tubing loads from either direction to keep the packer anchored in place. An internal lock system mechanically traps the packoff force and keeps the elements energized until the packer is released. A bypass valve is present to aid in equalization and the release of the packer. It is locked from accidentally opening until the packer-releasing sequence has been initiated.

What is a packer in a well?

The packer (more accurately described as the 'upper completion production packer') is a key piece of downhole equipment in many completions - a sealing device that isolates and contains produced fluids and pressures within the tubing string; it is a well barrier element, usually part of the well's primary well barrier, protecting the casing and creating an A-annulus. The packer is essential to the basic functioning of most wells, injectors or producers. Alternatives to using a production packer include a dynamic seal assembly, a cemented completion and a packerless completion.

How does a retrievable compression packer work?

The retrievable compression packer is prevented from setting by means of a mechanical interlock while it is being run in the hole. Once the packer has been run to the desired depth, the tubing string is rotated to initiate the setting sequence. As the tubing is being rotated, the drag blocks on the packer are used to hold the packer in place and provide the resistance to set it. Once the interlock system is released, the tubing string is lowered to close the bypass seal and set the slips. The continued application of slackoff force energizes the packing-element system and creates a seal. The packer is released by simply picking up on the tubing string—a desirable feature.

Why is packoff tool used?

Because the packer does not rely on constant tubing forces to maintain its packoff, this tool is much more versatile in application. It can be used in production or injection applications, as well as in completions for which well stimulation is planned, and it is almost universal in application. The only constraint is in deep deviated wells, where tubing manipulation or getting packoff force to the tool may present a problem. Extreme shallow depth setting is achievable in models that allow the elements to be energized with tension.

How to remove a permanent packer from a wellbore?

Permanent packers can be removed from the wellbore only by milling. The retrievable packer may or may not be resettable, but removal from the wellbore normally does not require milling. Retrieval is usually accomplished by some form of tubing manipulation. This may necessitate rotation or require pulling tension on the tubing string.

Why is a tension packer not a bypass valve?

This seldom presents a problem with the tension packer, because the packer is run at relatively shallow depths, and differential pressures across the packer during retrieval should be low. The use of packers without bypass valves should be avoided in deeper applications for which hydrostatic and differential pressures can be greater. High differential pressures can make packers difficult or impossible to release because of the forces created by the pressure acting on the cross-sectional area of the packer. In packers with no bypass feature, the pressures must be equalized at the surface by adding fluid or pressure to the tubing or annulus and, in some extreme cases, swabbing the tubing string.

Why use hydraulic packer?

Because no tubing manipulation is required to set a hydraulic packer, it can be set easily after the wellhead has been flanged up and the tubing has been displaced. This promotes safety and allows better control of the well while displacing tubing and annulus fluids. The hydraulic-set packer can be run in a single-packer installation, and because no packer body movement occurs during the setting process, it can be run in tandem as an isolation packer in single-string multiple-zone production wells. The hydraulic-set single-string packer is ideal for highly deviated wells in which conditions are not suitable for mechanical-set packers.

What is a packer?

Packer changes all of this. Packer automates the creation of any type of machine image. It embraces modern configuration management by encouraging you to use a framework such as Chef or Puppet to install and configure the software within your Packer-made images.

What is Packer in a machine?

Improved stability. Packer installs and configures all the software for a machine at the time the image is built. If there are bugs in these scripts, they'll be caught early, rather than several minutes after a machine is launched.

Why aren't pre-baked images used?

Pre-baked machine images have a lot of advantages, but most have been unable to benefit from them because images have been too tedious to create and manage . There were either no existing tools to automate the creation of machine images or they had too high of a learning curve. The result is that, prior to Packer, creating machine images threatened the agility of operations teams, and therefore aren't used, despite the massive benefits.

Is Packer a multi-provider?

Multi-provider portability. Because Packer creates identical images for multiple platforms, you can run production in AWS, staging/QA in a private cloud like OpenStack, and development in desktop virtualization solutions such as VMware or VirtualBox. Each environment is running an identical machine image, giving ultimate portability.

What are Provisioners?

Provisioners use builtin and third-party software to install and configure the machine image after booting. Provisioners prepare the system for use, so common use cases for provisioners include:

What are Post-Processors?

Post-processors run after the image is built by the builder and provisioned by the provisioner (s). Post-processors are optional, and they can be used to upload artifacts, re-package, or more. For more information about post-processors, please choose an option from the sidebar.

What is a packer?

Packer is an open-source VM image creation tool from Hashicorp. It helps you automate the process of Virtual machine image creation on the cloud and on-prem virtualized environments.

How does packer work?

Packer works on the concept of the builder plugin. For every cloud provider, there are specific builder plugins that interact with the Cloud provider API to create the images.

What is provisioner block?

Provisioner block is part of the build block. Here you can mention how you want to configure the VM image. You can run shell scripts, Ansible playbooks, Check cookbooks, etc. See the provisioners page for all the supported provisioners.

What is ami.pkr.hcl?

Note: In the above example, ami.pkr.hcl is the packer template file.

How to override a variable in Packer?

All the variables declared in the variable block can be overridden during the Packer run time using -var a flag followed by the variable value.

Where is the script in Packer?

The script or ansible-playbook should be present in the folder where you have the Packer template.

Can you install Packer on Jenkins?

You can have Packer installed on your local workstation or on a cloud instance. In the actual project, the Packer installation would be part of the Jenkins agent or any tooling which is part of the CI/CD process.

Why use a cultipacker?

But when you use a cultipacker, you’ll be properly preparing the seedbed, and insuring good seed to soil contact, two of the most important things you can do for achieving success.

How tall is a cultipacker?

This 6-foot (1.83 m) cultipacker will break up the dirt clods, and level and firm up the seedbed. It also leaves grooves in the soil that will help retain moisture and help prevent wash or erosion.

What tractor is used to prepare a field for seeding?

For example, here’s a 23-acre field we’re getting prepared for seeding using a John Deere 5125R Utility Tractor ( US CA) and a Frontier CP1512 Cultipacker ( US CA ). This 12-foot (3.67 m) model is used to prepare the seedbed, exactly the same as the smaller model – breaking up any remaining clods of soil, firming the seedbed, and leaving shallow grooves, again helping retain moisture and preventing wash or erosion.

How many implements does Frontier have?

Frontier has nearly 600 implements that are available only from your John Deere dealer, the place to go for advice and equipment. So remember, for implements that help turn your tractor into the workhorse it was built to be, think Frontier and your John Deere dealer.

Can you use a cultipacker after seeding?

Then, if your seeding equipment does not have a rear cultipacker attached, you would use a cultipacker again after application to press the seed into the seedbed, creating really good seed to soil contact.
