What is a pro power kit?
The Pro Power Kit is basically just an electrical resistor. In a normal doorbell setup one half of the circuit (from the transformer) goes to the button outside, and the other half goes to the chime inside the house. Then there's a conductor that connects the chime and outdoor button directly. When the button outside is pressed the circuit is completed and power flows momentarily to the chime to cause it to ring.
Why does my ring doorbell hum?
With the Ring doorbell it needs constant power to stay on, which isn't typical so it's also constantly sending a little voltage (1.4v as far as I could tell while testing it) and that can cause some chimes to continually ring softly or just hum because it's getting power but not enough to actually ring, but enough to burn out the little chime solenoid.
