- Load Range F (12 ply tire) – maximum load pressure of 95 psi (650kPa)
Do I really need a load range "E" tire?
You need a load range E tire if you are hauling a Gooseneck trailer. If you never haul a load, you can get by with load range D; but load range C is outweighted by the front axle because of the engine weight. Most people dont need an E range tire, but a 38' gooseneck should have them. You can get SSR's in load range E

Does tire pressure increase under a heavy load?
No, but does show that the load isn't being supported by compression of the air in the tire. Unlike, say, a rigid cylinder with the load sitting on top of a piston in that cylinder, where any increase in the load turns directly into compression of the air and an increase in pressure.
Is load range E 10 ply?
Load Range E tires are sometimes referred to as 10-ply tires. It used to be that a tire’s ability to carry additional weight was dependant upon the actual number of plies in the tire casing and so a tire with 10 plies was suitable for towing heavy loads.

How much weight can a Load Range E trailer tire carry?

What's better load range D or E?
Expert Reply: Load range D has a capacity of 1,220 lbs at 65 psi, whereas load range E has a capacity of 1,520 lbs at 80 psi. Basically the only difference between the two is the weight capacity.
What is better Load Range E or F?
F-load range tires allow for higher carrying capacity at a higher inflation pressure compared to tires of the same size with an E-load range.
Is Load Range E good for towing?
LT-series tires support the higher air pressures that are common for towing. At a minimum, Load Range E tires are capable of safely supporting about 3,000 pounds. So, in the case of a dualie (six wheels), the tires collectively will provide more than sufficient grip for safely towing 18,000 pounds.
Will 10-Ply tires help with trailer sway?
A lower load range in the same size would have a lower ply rating. By comparison an ST225/75R15 tire in load range E, # AM10303, has a ply rating of 10. Bias ply tires will have a stiffer sidewall compared to their radial counterparts. The tires are likely not going to help much with sway.
What load range tire do I need for my trailer?
To find out what your tires' load carrying capacity minimum needs to be, simply divide the trailer's GVWR by the total number of tires (in our example: 10,000/4 = 2,500). Luckily, trailer manufacturers almost always include tires that (when combined) exceed the trailer's GVWR by a fair margin.
How much weight can a 10 ply tire hold?
Tire Weight / Tire Pressure = Load Capacity Pounds per PSI At 60 psi on a 10ply tire, the tire's load carrying capacity is reduced to 2,314 pounds per tire. If the customer runs 65 psi in a 10 ply tire, his capacity is now able to carry 2,507 per tire.
What load range is a 10 ply tire?
E”For example, an “E” load range indicates that a tire is equivalent to a 10-ply construction tire.
Are 12-ply tires good for towing?
A 12-ply tire is the most capable tire when it comes to the load range as it corresponds with the top-level “F” load range index. This means that a 12-ply tire is the most durable, most capable tire when it comes to hauling and towing.
What load range is a 12-ply tire?
Tire Ply-Ratings So typically we would say a tire is 6-ply rated, 8-ply rated, or 10-ply rated, and those correspond to Load Range C, D, and E respectively. So of course a Load Range F does correspond to a 12-ply rating.
What load rating do I need?
To roughly determine the load range capacity for each individual tire, take the vehicle's gross weight and divide by four. If the vehicle gross weight is 4,500 pounds, each tire should be able to safely support at least 1,125 pounds.

Which is better 6 ply or 8 ply?
Actually the 6 ply will last longer than the 8 ply. The reason is the extra size of the body plies in a trailer tire will actually produce more heat while rolling than a 6 ply rated tire. I definately recommend radila and not bias ply construction. Radial tires wear much better.
What ply are trailer tires?
The ply rating on trailer tires typically varies between 2(A) and 10(E). This ply rating is intended to indicate the strength of the tires construction relative to other ply ratings. It doesn't necessarily mean that the tire is manufactured with this specific number of plys or layers.
