My husband has Sesary Syndrome. No bandages,or bandaides etc would stick to his skin. This is the only product that works for him. He has not experienced any side effects, although that could be because of the oddness of his skin due to the condition he has.

I had a horrible reaction to this, and my doctor was slow to react because he bought into the "this never happens" mantra of the pharmaceutical company. REPORT YOUR REACTION TO THE FDA! There is no other way to show doctors that this substance is dangerous, and that it's not rare.

As an operative nurse we use Mastisol to help Steri-strips adhere to the wound site & they work very well. However, there is a small population that are allergic (myself included). Can mastisol cause blisters?
Mastisol used during knee replacement surgery. Two days later rash started developing which then became blisters leaking clear yellow fluid. Blisters extended the entire length of incision on both sides of the tape and under the tape. Doctor put me on antibiotics and Benadryl and they started drying up 4 days later. I was told I had developed an allergy to Mastisol as it was my 3rd surgery and did not have a problem with the first 2 surgeries. This was a severe reaction.

Our patient was a 20-year-old Caucasian man with a history of cerebral palsy spastic hemiplegia who underwent single-event multilevel soft-tissue surgery to optimize function of his left upper extremity. He developed a severe cutaneous allergic reaction after his third exposure to Mastisol. He was subsequently admitted to the inpatient service and managed without further complications by a multidisciplinary team comprising orthopedics, pediatrics, and dermatology. We discuss the etiology, clinical features, diagnosis, and treatment of this entity, and we also review relevant available literature on the subject. We aim at creating further awareness of allergic reactions because of exposure to available skin-prepping and wound-dressing agents.
