Love Federal HST Ammo!

Ammo works great never had issues with it! Thank you so much for fulfilling my order after the pandemic started I only had a couple magazines of HP ammo for my G19X so I needed the 120 9mm rounds!!!

NOTICEABLE reduction in muzzle flip and noise

I used this in a trial against 115Gr and 147Gr HST rounds. I didn't think the extra 3 grains of weight at 150 would make that big of a difference, but the round is easier to shoot, faster shot recovery, quieter... really there is nothing NOT to like other than the price.

Some hypothesized the abbreviation stood for "Hi-Shok Two," but in reality it was just a name. It was, however, a name that gained a stellar reputation on the street. This should not come as a surprise, considering bullet-engineering guru Tom Burczynski, of Hydra-Shok and EFMJ fame, worked on this new project.

What is an HST bullet?

Federal Premium HST ammunition is designed to maximize expansion without overly limiting penetration. This is a hard thing to do. Terminal performance is a physics problem, not a magic spell. All things being equal, the larger the frontal surface of an expanded bullet, the less it will penetrate. However, with the HST bullet, the frontal area of a deformed bullet looks similar to a six-pointed star. The points of the "star" extend out farther than—but don't increase surface area as much as—the rounded edges of a typical expanded bullet. In essence, the expanded HST bullet cuts a larger hole but still penetrates deep due to its starfish-like shape and high weight retention.

How many barrier tests are there for HST?

Federal has conducted exhaustive tests to prove HST loads meet FBI standards and penetration remains consistent through seven different barrier tests. This is why so many police agencies use them. I didn't duplicate these tests, but I always like to see for myself, even if deviations in gelatin testing and measuring often produce slightly varied results.

Some of these new products rolled out over the last couple years include HST Micro options for short-barreled pistols and even a .38 Spl. option with a unique cartridge design. For now, let's take a look at popular options chambered in 9 mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP, which were part of the company's initial rollout.

Heavier bullets and lower velocity help control recoil and while specialized propellant provides the necessary force to cycle reliably. You will be very pleased with the Federal HST ammunition.

Can you go wrong with a HST bullet?

Of course, being loaded with the HST bullet, there is no way you can go wrong with that Federal Micro rounds. Although specifically designed for a micro pistol, the bullet will do great in your mid or full sized 9mm. Give me a shout if I can get some on the way to you. Have a great day. Ross.
