Reproduction
The spawn of this genus consists of a thin sheet of transparent gelatinous material 60–100 cm (25–40 in) wide and 8–10 m (26–33 ft) in length. The eggs in this sheet are in a single layer, each in its own little cavity. The spawn is free in the sea. The larvae are free-swimming and have the pelvic fins with elongated filaments.
Habitat
The East Atlantic species is found along the coasts of Europe, but becomes scarce beyond 60°N latitude; it occurs also on the coasts of the Cape of Good Hope. The species caught on the North American side of the Atlantic is usually Lophius americanus. A third species ( Lophius budegassa ), inhabits the Mediterranean, and a fourth ( L.

Fish Monkey is the fishing glove specialist
Enter Fish Monkey, the fishing glove specialist. Recognizing the need for high-performance fishing gloves that fit well and functioned even better, Fish Monkey founder, Tim Mossberg, a hard-core fishing enthusiast himself, has built an extensive line of fishing gloves for all fishermen.
Sun protection that is unmatched
All sun protection, however, is not created equal. Sun protection is a function of two things, the actual weave of the fabric and a fabric treatment that is applied as the garment is being made. The fabrics we use for Fish Monkey gloves feature a much finer weave that better blocks the sun.
A grip with guts, too
Fish Monkey also offers a third big advantage, an incredibly effective non-slip grip. Every Fish Monkey glove features an appropriate high-performance form of non-slip grip. Whether silicone, rubber, synthetic leather or PVC, we call it Griptanite Non-Slip Grip Technology because it really grips!

Ecology
Ranging from southern Oregon down to the northern reaches of the Mexican state of Baja California, monkeyface pricklebacks are coastal fish that live in rocky, tidal areas close to shore. First described by Girard in 1854, the fish spawn on the sea floor and show some nest guarding behavior.
Fishery
Monkeyface pricklebacks have long been sought after for their edible white flesh, with remains found in the middens of Native American peoples along the California coast. In the modern era, the fish's appeal is and has always been mostly among amateur anglers.
History
Ant farms had been popularized in 1956 by Milton Levine. Harold von Braunhut invented a brine-shrimp-based product the next year, 1957. Von Braunhut collaborated with marine biologist Dr.
Legal history
The company that markets Sea-Monkeys today, Transcience Corporation (not the same company that created them) continues to operate, with its legal status questioned during its 4-year long lawsuit originally filed on September 24, 2013 by von Braunhut's widow, and against the company that is alleged to have illegally manufactured them, Big Time Toys.
Biology
The animals sold as Sea-Monkeys are claimed to be an artificial breed known as Artemia NYOS, formed by hybridising different species of Artemia. They are also claimed to live longer and grow bigger than ordinary brine shrimp; however, there are no references to these claims outside marketing material from the manufacturer.
Description
The monkey's fist is a spherical covering with six surface parts presenting a regular over-one-and-under-one weave. This weave is commonly doubled or tripled to present an appearance that superficially resembles a Turk's-head. Like the Turk's-head, the knot is tied with a single strand, but here the resemblance ceases.
Tying
tied using the same 3 step method as a monkeys fist but with only one turn (light version) or one and a half turns (heavier version) in the first step, most of the rope weight provided by the turns at the second step, and as third step threading the end through the nearest bight pinched by the turns at the second step and tightening.
Other applications
A monkey's fist can be used on two ends of a tow lines of one side a fish net which is then thrown from one trawler to another, allowing the net to be cast and set between two boats so the trawl can be used between the two, in pair trawling where the tow or catch is negotiated between both parties.
