What's the difference between comfortbat and Safe n sound?
The "comfortbat" is a 2lb/sq ft density where the "safe n sound" is a 2.5lb/sq ft density. The local HD only carried the safe n sound on the shelf, and that is what I used when I insulated my MES to make the MES Custom SS mod.
What's the difference between comfort Batt and Roxul safe and sound?
I believe Safe and Sound is a bit more dense and since Roxul markets the Safe and Sound as an interior sound + fire proofing product, they don't publish any thermal specs for it. Comfort Batt on the other hand clearly states R14. Obviously the Safe and Sound has some r value, how much I'm not sure.
Does comfortbatt need to be faced?
Rockwool Comfortbatt isn't faced either. There's lots of (better) ways to get a vapor retarder into the wall assembly that doesn't rely on the batts being faced. Can you share the ways to get green vapor barrier into the wall assembly?
