The Winter procedure pro- vides an alternative treatment for patients with idi- opathic low-flow priapism who do not respond to conservative management. This simple procedure usually resolves the priapism and facilitates the return of normal erectile function.

Last reviewed 01/2018. This is an operation to reverse priapism when conservative measures have failed. The procedure creates a shunt between the engorged corpora cavernosa and the corpus spongiosum of the glans penis. The blood is now able to drain away more freely resulting in detumescence.
