It has the size of 18 square km and is composed of two villages - Mali Iz and Veli Iz. If you want to get away from noisy overcrouded and overpopulated tourist centers, this is the place for you! This place feels almost isolated from the world. There is almost no traffic. The local cars dont have to have number plates (unless they need to leave the island). There is no police cause there is no crime. If you go there - I would probably reccommend you to go to Veli Iz. It is abit more interesting and has few restaraunts which are important for us, the travellers. It also has 2 supermarkets, one of them is open from morning till evening (the other 2 supermarkets which we have seen on the island had very limited working hours). There was one souvenire shop (open only in the season), so I couldn't get any souvenirs at all. I ended up buying an amazing neckless at a local ceramics shop (also working only in limited hours). The island has one hotel in Veli Iz. The hotel doesn't look that special, so we have rented a private apartment. It was lovely, fully equipped, better than hotel and cost only 30 EUR per night! A good restaurant in Veli Iz is. They serve amazing seafood. It is funny that none of the restaurants/accommodations on the island has an email address or a webpage. Probably they don't have interent on this island. There is lots of space for swimming. The beaches are rocky, but not overcrowded. If you want to have a private beach just for yourself, you can walk about 30 min to the other side of the island. And there is nobody. I would really recommend this island to families with kids aged 5-12 years. It could be fun and safe for the kids and a really good relaxation for the parents. I don't recommend this island for teenagers looking for clubs and nightlife.

I am not sure I have ever felt as peaceful as I did on Iz! It is a beautifully quiet and a perfect place to relax. There are not really beaches but we just lay our towels out on the grass and it was perfect. It doesn't seem that many tourists visit and it had a real authentic feel. Death
Kamakawiwoʻole suffered from obesity throughout his life, at one point weighing 757 pounds (343 kg) while standing 6 feet 2 inches (1.88 m) tall. He endured several hospitalizations because of his weight. With chronic medical problems including respiratory and cardiac issues, he died at the age of 38 in the Queen's Medical Center at 12:18 am on June 26, 1997, from respiratory failure.
