normally should take 6-8liters when empty.If it is making those noises keep a tow truck on speed dial.Dodge does not make a very strong transmission.Could be that you just need the bands adjusted but I suspect you either need to rebuild or replace it

Contact a Junk Yard / Auto Salvage Yard and see if they have any 2000 Dodge Caravan 3.3L there. Ask them how much (if anything) for a Owners Manual. It will be the cheapest and fastest way to get one. All on-line sites have a charge far more than what is available at a Junk Yard.
