You can have your rank at enlistment changed for up to 6 months after enlistment if you come up with the documents later during that time period. This is so that you dont thave to wait on documents to arrive before you enlist. For example, if you had not mentioned JROTC or could not produce the documents at enlistment and enlisted as an E1 you could produce the documents up to 6 months later and get promoted at your RSP site to E2 with a date of rank of your enlistment date, and get back pay for the difference.

However, be advised that you can not do this for things you earned after you enlisted. But you would not be allowed to simply produce the documents after you had been in for 2 months and get promoted for 2 years of JROTC, This is because you had not earned that BEFORE enlistment. This is true with college education hours as well. You can only use these types of promotions based on what you had earned (but did not provide documentation for) BEFORE you enlisted. These types of programs are based on your enlisting at a higher than E1 rank based on what you have completed before enlistment.
