Testing in the FRA program will consist of:

  1. Urine screens to detect the presence of marijuana, cocaine, opioids (and expanded opiates), phencyclidine and amphetamines (See 49 CFR § 40.85 and 49 CFR § 40.87);
  2. Breath alcohol tests to detect the unauthorized use of alcohol; and
  3. Breath, urine, and tissue (fatality) testing after qualifying FRA post-accident events.

I have been noticing on the CSX railroad job websight that some adds say hair drug test and others say FRA approved drug test. Can anyone tell me what these mean and why they are doing the different tests?

HAIR TESTING

I just got and passed my physical today according to the doctor for Norfolk Southern. It still has to be sent to the medical director to pass on which I'm sure he/she will but along with that test I got a urine test and a hair test.
