What is AD RMS?

AD RMS is the name for what was originally introduced as a standalone release called Rights Management Services (RMS) 1.0 which was first released by Microsoft in 2005 for the Windows Server 2003 server platform.

Currently you can use OME without AIP licenses. Each user benefiting from Office 365 Message Encryption needs to be licensed to be covered by the feature.
