The employees are great, it’s a family environment. Very supportive on both the management and employee side. Management takes good care of employees.
Not rateable
Worked at this store for 3 months. The worst experience of my lifetime. Not the best or most intelligent of management/managers and store manager. Bad attitude problem. Not a nice company to work for. Also had absolutely no heating at the time of a seriously cold winter.
NEW management destroyed any integrity for my work as a cleaner
I was happy working hard as a cleaner working on different shift to the other 3 cleaners, then two cleaners left, then NEW MANAGEMENT started and the other cleaner left and over 20 other staff left. Everything went down hill from there.
Poor management
They don't care about staff or customers. Actually, I don't know what they care about. Pricing is not priority. Poor management, they deal with staff as if they are at high school, as if they are immature and don't know what to do.
Unfriendly, unfair workplace
You may think due to being such a great place to shop in, that The Range would be great to work at - Sadly, it's the opposite.
Cons
Too much expected for pay. Too much slagging off. Unprofessional managers.
Terrible place to work
Andover branch - I was employed as a warehouse assistant, the warehouse was outdated, poorly maintained and stock was treated with complete disregard. The store has a serious rat infestation which is most evident in the warehouse where boxes of stock show clear signs of rat bites and droppings.
Great staff morale but management make it difficult to do your job. Lack of direction and support
You are always guaranteed any hours you want. Working with other staff is the best part of the job. Management are often unprofessional and make life difficult for staff.
Strange place to work the staff are excellent and some of the management but little to no leeway given
If you have worked in retail before the minute you walk into the Range you realise something is up. The way things are run are honestly some of the craziest ways I've ever seen, the management are running around like headless chickens just as much as the staff but not all of them.
Retail made complicated!
My time in The Range is one of truly mixed feelings, I have previously worked in retail environments but this one is its own experience.
Bad management, bad company
Managers are bully’s and play favourites, even when it’s brought to a managers attention about bullying it’s overlooked. One rule for one person and different for another in there. Way too hard on staff considering it’s a minimum wage job.
Management
Fantastic staff in this particular store, however Store Managers needs to go!
Not the best place to work
The only good thing about working at the Range is the floor staff. They are the salt of the earth, they keep me going and they motivate me to come in for each shift. The management are terrible, I don’t know how they ever got a managers position.
A lot of favouritism and pay is so bad
The main thing about working for the range is that the pay is so bad, everyone there will agree with that. You don’t get any overtime, nothing extra for working bank holidays, public holidays or working nights. Lots of staff have also had issues with their pay check where they’ve been down money, which tends to be hard to resolve.

Company expectations shifts all the time for the sole purpose of making even more money. Nearly went back....glad I didn't
New team in the digital marketing arena at the HO. Massive expansion opportunity to learn skills in multiple channels all from a nice plush office. Closer commute for myself.
As expected
The job is relatively simple, you go in, stack the shelves etc. I was using this as an interim position before heading to 'normal' work. It was oddly fun, most of my roles are very office based and so being up on your feet was nice.
Head office is a toxic workplace
You learn a lot from taking on management responsibilities on assistant wages.
Terrible, rude and horrible
It was a terrible place to work, I was in school and was learning to drive and could only work 1 day a week. They wanted me to work more after school but it was difficult to get there. They gave me the worst jobs and accused me of stealing on my second shift.
I imagine prison can't be much worse
They leave you alone for the most part if you keep your head down and do your job. If you're good at sucking up to your boss, you'll get away with virtually anything. Overtime is fair and paid well (-ish).
