With Operation Velvet Shell, Team Rainbow recruits two of G.E.O.’s finest: Mira and Jackal . The new Operators are immediately unlocked for Season Pass owners, with exclusive access granted for seven days. All players can then unlock the Operators with Renown or R6 Credits after the exclusive period ends.

Inspired by the FBI’s Quick Capture Platform, the Eyenox Model III was created to offer a mobile tracking device able to both identify and trail a person’s footprints in real-time. This forensic tool was first used to track terrorist cells back to hidden cave complex in the mountains of Afghanistan.

Álvarez came up with the idea for Black Mirror during Operation Blue Orion, when she was forced to improvise a panic room at the Embassy of Spain in Tel Aviv. She used this experience to design a specialized laminated glass, which when deployed with oxyacetylene can carve out a one-way mirror on any wall.
COASTLINE
Team Rainbow has been called to safeguard the seashore of Ibiza, Spain. Two of G.E.O.'s most resourceful Operators have been selected to provide their unique tactical expertise to the unit. Stationed on Ibiza’s rocky shore, course through Balearic ruins and navigate booming bars to neutralise the threat.

Jackal and Mira
Two of the largest aspects of the Velvet Shell update are the new operators finding a place in the game's roster. Coming straight out of G.E.O, a special operations force of the Spanish police, the duo brings numerous new abilities to Rainbow Six Siege's combat.
Coastline
Velvet Shell also introduces Coastline – a new multiplayer map based in Ibiza, Spain. Taking the battle to a party haven of La Perla Blanca, Coastline focuses heavily on close-quarters combat throughout its various bars, pools, and dancefloors.
New customization options
New customization options also make an arrival with Velvet Shell, giving both new and existing operators the chance to experiment with a new coat of paint. These will be available for purchase with Renown or R6 Credits, earned in-game.
New dynamic menu
Rainbow Six Siege's menus are also undergoing a serious overhaul with the Velvet Shell expansion, hoping to streamline the experience for regular players better. With the game gaining an increasingly dedicated player base, the user interface has been reworked to accommodate this demographic.
Tweaks and fixes across the board
As with all Rainbow Six Siege updates, Velvet Shell also comes with a huge changelog. Fixes are being introduced to all aspects of Rainbow Six Siege, from operator and weapon handling to general quality of life improvements on all existing levels.
International broadcast
In the 2014 edition of MIPTV Media Market, the rights for Velvet were acquired by Italy's RAI and France's M6. RAI also got the rights for a remake. In Lithuania, it started airing on LNK on 1 June 2014. In Greece and Cyprus, it is airing on Nova Life. In Finland, the series started airing in December 2015 on YLE Teema.
Spin-off
On 9 February 2017, subscription platform Movistar+ announced they had acquired the rights to produce a spin-off series of Velvet, titled Velvet Colección, which will be centered on the opening of a second Galerías Velvet store in Barcelona in 1967.
