Shared Marketing and Distribution

As anyone in the food business knows, marketing and selling specialty food products is time-consuming and expensive. As Members of the AHC we are able to share the costs of branding, marketing, sales, and distribution. By pooling our hazelnuts we can access bigger markets and provide the consistent supply buyers want.

Fair Returns to Growers

The AHC provides a means for growers to own the value-chain to ensure that growers capture as much of the retail food dollar as possible. A hazelnut industry where growers are beholden to the processors and distributors means only one thing...the growers lose.

OUR STORY

The Melcher family has been in the business of growing hazelnuts for over 50 years. Ken & June Melcher began farming hazelnuts in 1957 on a 40-acre farm in their home town of St. Paul, Oregon. It was one of the largest filbert orchards in the Willamette Valley at the time.
