How do I get Started with my new cadet uniform?

How do you put a wing patch on a new cadet?
The folded end of the tape should be flush with the width of the pocket. The MN Wing patch on the left shoulder is to be 1/2 inch down from the shoulder seam and centered (unfortunately, the New Cadet Guide does not show or spell this out well).

Locally, Bel Air Alterations does military patches and alterations. I can't speak on any other locations, they just came up in a web search. We suggest parents purchase corframs (search for hi-gloss oxfords) and combat boots (search for jungle boots) via Amazon.
What does Cadette uniform mean?
For over a century, Girl Scouts have proudly worn distinctive uniforms that symbolize the high ideals for which Girl Scouting stands. Uniforms provide unity among Girl Scouts and a feeling of belonging to a worldwide sisterhood.
What is a Cadette pin?
Cadette Program Aide Pin – This award signifies completion of the following: one Leadership in Action (LiA) award, one Girl Scouts River Valleys’ leadership training, and working directly with younger girls.

What do Girl Scouts wear?
Uniform Basics. Girl Scout Cadettes have the option of a khaki sash or vest (keep in mind that this uniform will be used for the rest of their girl membership years with Girl Scouts). Their higher-level badges and pins will move up with them and accumulate on this uniform.
What is a troop crest?
Troop Crest – This crest is a symbol for the troop’s goal, interest, or character. A crest is voted on by all troop members. *Troop Numerals – Upon joining Girl Scouts, girls will be assigned a troop number. *Membership Stars and Discs – These signify the completed years in any given program level.

Why do CAP cadets wear uniforms?

What happens when a cadet leaves CAP?
When a cadet outgrows a uniform or leaves CAP, we ask families to turn those items in to the squadron so other cadets might use them.

Check your appearance in a full-length mirror. Keep a small cloth with you to dust your shoes and brass. Check your gig-line upon exiting a car or restroom. Avoid leaning against anything while in uniform. Ask your wingman to double-check your uniform, and return the favor.

Check your appearance in a full-length mirror. Keep a small cloth with you to dust your shoes and brass.
Where is the cloth tape on a cadet?
The cloth nametape and CAP tape are centered over the right and left pockets, respectively, as outlined on page 9 of the New Cadet Guide (link to guide is above). Fold the ends of the cloth tapes under and sew them; do not cut the cloth tapes to match the edges of the pocket as they will fray. The folded end of the tape should be flush with the width of the pocket.
What to wear to the squadron?
Black sports shorts and a black t-shirt. You may also ask if we have a squadron t-shirt for purchase. Wear comfortable running shoes.
How much is a tan undershirt?

How old do you have to be to wear an Air Force uniform?
Note: Cadets do not need to meet the height and weight requirements for wearing US Air Force uniforms until they are 18 years old. See page 123 of CAP Manual 39-1 for more details.
When will the ABU uniform be phased out?
For the ABU uniform (make sure it says ABU and not BDU (Battle Dress Uniform) as BDUs are the older style that are being phased out June 2021; we will likely have some BDUs we can give you for free to use between now and the phase out date, but if you are buying a new uniform from Vanguard, then make sure it is an ABU), you can paste the following codes into the Vanguard website search field to pull them up or just click on the links:
Do you need to get a Curry uniform right away?
You do not need to get this uniform right away. Upon completion of your first achievement (the Curry Award), you will receive an email from CAP including something like:
Why do Air Cadets wear uniforms?
When cadets appear in uniform in public, it is their duty to be sure that their uniforms are properly maintained and correctly worn.
Where do pins start in the cadets?
Pin placement starts on page 9. Once you get into multiple pins it can be a bit daunting. If in doubt, ask a senior cadet. They are there to help!
When do you wear your uniform?
You only wear your uniform when you are attending training or proceeding to or from the place where you train or when you are attending ceremonies or functions at which the wearing of the uniform is appropriate and authorized. It is announced what the Dress of the Day is for each event during Closing Parade.
