I was considering the new Subzero BI-36R all fridge for my new kitchen until a salesman recommended I go for the Viking. He says he saw the new Sub at a show and was unimpressed with it . It needs a one and a half inch channel all around (don't really know what the implications of that mean, is it just not so aesthetic looking?).

Be really careful about getting a Viking fridge. A few years ago they were a disaster - they had design flaws that Viking tried to cover up. There were a lot of posts on this forum at the time - don't know if any are still around but you could do a Google search.
