WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GREEN TEA AND BLACK TEA?
Green tea, like black tea, comes from leaves of the Camellia sinesis plant. The difference occurs during the processing of the tea leaves. Green tea leaves are steamed and then dried shortly after plucking, a process which allows the tea to retain the green color of its leaves as well as its milder flavor and grassier notes.
HOW IS OUR TEA DECAFFEINATED?
Carbon Dioxide (CO2), a gas found in our atmosphere, when pressurized into a liquid becomes a solvent used to extract caffeine. CO2 allows for the retention of more antioxidants and flavor than other decaffeination methods. This method does not create a toxicity hazard to one’s health, and adheres to standards set by the Tea Association of the USA.
DOES THE DECAFFEINATION PROCESS AFFECT THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF GREEN TEA?
Although the decaffeination process always results in a small loss of antioxidant quality, the CO2 method of decaffeination used on Salada decaf green tea preserves more of the health benefits than other methods.
