Yes, some of this is to be expected, given recent transplant combined with time of year. I'd not worry about wetting the root flare. Now about that watering schedule: We don't generally like watering by the calendar, clock, or any other mechanical reminder. Far better to assess moisture status directly via fingers in soil.
