The study also found that monosyllabic words are very rare in Spanish. The languages that convey the most information with single syllables are supposedly the Asian languages, which also use tonal inflections to convey meaning, which Spanish of course doesn’t do (Spanish has just five vowel sounds for the five vowels and their sound and tone never changes).
