Each year we try to see the butterflies in the glasshouse at Wisley. This year is no different, although I was a little worried as we hadn’t picked a slot and since it was a Saturday I was expecting large queues.

The dazzling wildlife event was held at the famous garden every winter for many years, but organisers have said it won;t be on this year, and there is no date set for its return.
Why is the Butterfly Festival not taking place this year?
Normally held from January to March, the event would see around 50 species of butterfly flying freely in the tropical Glasshouse landing on plants, fruit and even people. But the immensely popular event will not take place "due to concerns over plant health", RHS Garden Wisley said.

Can you take dogs to Wisley?
