Where to swim in Saco River?
Two swim area we liked are: just outside of COnway (just north according to the map) on Eastside Road, there is a covered bridge and a park right next to it. Picnic tables, lots of lawn and a little beach. Only problem, as I remember it, the beach is fairly steep into the water. THe other spot is off of Rt 302 heading from N. Conway to Fryeburg Maine. Heading north, you'll see a parking lot on the left, just before crossing over the bridge over the Saco. Decent beach and swimming area down there. Not especially deep near the shore, but the water doess flow there.
Where to stop on Kanacamagus Highway?
If you are on the Kanacamagus Highway, a stop at the Lower Falls might be in order. THe river spills down a small falls and into a kind of large pool. THere is a bit of beach there, then gets deeper but nice place to wade. Also very nie picnic area.
