Yes, usually plastic will be fine to connect up a radiator. The cheapest Plastic PEX (PolyEthylene X linked) or PB (PolyButylene) pipe and fittings can generally withstand 6 bar at 65 degrees and 3 bar at 92 degrees. The most pressure and temperature in a failure mode your will ever see on a modern sealed heating system is <90 degrees and 3bar.

7841. In a word - yes it is fine - The way I see it - if you want to cut down on the installation time and there are some long runs to be perhaps hidden/recessed then plastic is the way to go. You can cut down on the number of joints used and therefore cut down on the possibility of any leaks.

Plastic can't however be used in all areas as certain areas still need to be copper pipe regardless. For example immediate flows and returns from a boiler up to a meter and any Gas Pipe installations must be fully run in copper. Cost wise there isn't much difference between copper and plastic.
Where is pipe work run?
The pipe work will be mostly run under floorboards, the only place where it will be seen is at the radiator points, at the boiler and at the radiator in the kitchen - concrete floor here, so it will have to be run above ground for around 1.5m.

However, weve done dozens of heatings in plastic. Some dating back a few years not without any problems. We came off the boiler (22mm copper) to 22mm plastic to 2 central manifolds. Then piped the rads from the manifold with 2 continuous lengths of plastic. So apart from the rad valves and manifolds theyre wasnt any joints or fittings used.
