Adjust the high temperature the same way, if actual highs are greater than the maximum cardinal temperatures. 3 subtract the averaged temperature from the base temperature and, voila!, you have the accumulated degree days for that organism on that date. 4 calculate the heat-units gained for subsequent days and add them to estimate the accumulated degree days over a time period.
