I made flashcards during undergrad to help me study for art history. They're a bit time-consuming to make but once they're made, it's smooth-sailing from then on. Of course, you would then need to use the flashcards to study the artworks. On one side, you could paste a picture of an artwork then on the other side, write down the date it was made, who made it (if known), and special features about the artwork to help you remember characteristics about it. If you would like to save trees, I am sure there are websites somewhere that enable you to make electronic flashcards.
