How do I get to Hanalei Bay?
Getting There- Hanalei Bay Beach Plus, you can see Hanalei Bay and its beach from Highway 56 (Kuhio Highway) just before you reach the town of Hanalei. There are three parking areas for accessing the beach. The first parking area sits just after Nualolo Road on the left side of Highway 56.
Can you walk from Princeville to Hanalei?
Although Hanalei Bay Resort is quite close to the town of Hanalei as the crow flies, it is a long walk. Hanalei Bay Resort is located in the community of Princeville which is on a bluff. The Hanalei River also separates the two areas. The easiest way to get to the town of Hanalei from Princeville is by car.

Entry reservations will be required for everyone in the vehicle and parking reservations will no longer cover all passengers in the vehicle. Day-use Parking and Entry Reservations are available 30-days in advance. Parking reservations are only good for the time slots indicated during purchase.
Is the road to Ke'e beach open?
The first two-miles of the Kalalau Trail from Ke'e Beach to Hanakāpīʻai Beach is open for day-use without a permit. Visitors must have advanced reservations to enter Hā'ena State Park.
Kuhio Highway fully re-opens
In March 2021, a substantial landslide struck the island of Kauai in the small town of Hanalei. Severe flooding was to blame following a heavy rainstorm. This abruptly destructive natural disaster also had the gall to maim one of the island's most important stretches of road: Route 56, or Kuhio Highway.
