We took our 4 and 2 year old boys to this zoo recently and we all had a great time! They have lots of the bigger animals (lions, elephants, giraffes, tigers, bears, etc...) and the enclosures are all fairly big and natural looking. The zoo is located in the Oakland hills so there is going to be a decent bit of walking...definitely wear your tennis shoes. One really great thing about Oakland Zoo is that they really seem to cater to younger kids. They have lots of educational exhibits, a petting zoo, playgrounds, and other little things that make it more exciting for young kids.

There's a burger/hot dog area near the African Safari. The food stand at the Children's area is a joke.
