I purchased a logik LBFANX14 oven in December and have just come to install it but it says it needs hard wiring. It is 230v with a total loading if 2.9kW. The manual says it is 12A current with a 900W top element, 1100W bottom element and 2000W grill (You can't use the grill at the same time as the oven).

Manufacturer cabling stipulations cannot be overridden - although it seems the max draw can only ever be just under 9 amps due to grill not being able to be used with oven. Can it go on a plug top using heat resistant flex of the correct csa? yes .. if a plug top is used does that conform to regs? no.

There is no fcu circuit and the fuse box is in the cellar 30ft away from the kitchen. The plug socket is in the kitchen behind the oven. I've always had plug in ovens in the 16 years I've lived there and never had any problems before.

Fire the geezer wants to plug in his oven - there is already an outlet in position..whether local isolation is satisfied I haven't got a clue. No one can say you can plug in the oven without breaking regs - in this case if the oven was plugged in then manufacturers connection stipulations will have been overridden, a reg breach.
