A flooded evaporator is the opposite of the starved coil. Too much refrigerant is passed through the evaporator coils, resulting in unexpanded liquid passing onto the suction line and into the compressor.

Thanks Jamie for your valuable information I would like to have your comments regarding using danfoss EEV for flooded evaporator without any refrigerant level control or level transmitter. I have one chiller like it nameplate is telling it is by french company, but I found out that it is carrier chiller.

Jamie Kitchen Hi Jamie. Thank you for your reply The design of EEV for flooded evaporator was belong to one of the carrier chiller which is unacceptable for me also. Even there was not any plan for oil return on the chiller at evaporator side which made me more curious how carrier designs such a chiller

Hi Erfan. Concerning using an adaptive metering device such as an EEV for a flooded evaporator, I am not sure I see any value to this as there is no need to maintain superheat and I am not sure how you would maintain the correct flow based on load. However, this would require deeper research to be sure.
