Flash, also known as flashing, is excess material attached to a molded, forged, or cast product, which must usually be removed. This is typically caused by leakage of the material between the two surfaces of a mold (beginning along the parting line) or between the base material and the mold in the case of overmolding.
What is plastic flash?
Mold flash, or flashing, is excess plastic that forms on the surface of injection molded parts. This unwanted material is usually forced out of the mold cavity at the parting line but can also emerge from other locations.
What's a flash kit?
An Arc Flash Kit is a convenient carrying case (or “Gear Bag”) that contains the full set of PPE needed for safe electrical work.
How do you remove flash from plastic parts?
Hot air works well for removing flash that is thin and fine. However, if the flash is too coarse it can be difficult to melt back into the part surface without affecting the look of the finished product. In these cases the flash may need to be mechanically removed before using hot air to smooth the surface.
How do you eliminate flash?
A common first response to reduce flash is to slow down the injection rate. While decreasing the injection rate eliminates flash by raising material viscosity, it also increases cycle time and still doesn't address the original cause of flashing. Worse yet, flash may reappear during the pack/hold phase.
What does a flash do?
The flash is a device that emits light momentarily. You can use the flash's light to compensate for the lack of brightness when shooting in dimly lit situations like indoors or night scenes. Thanks to the instant exposure, using the flash can also be effective to prevent camera shake and subject blur.
How does a flash work?
When you activate your flash and press the shutter button, the electrical circuit increases the power supply's electrical current. This feeds energy into the xenon gas, which causes it to emit a bright flash.
How do you remove flash resin?
If the mold lines are not thick, you can remove the flash by dragging a sharp X-Acto knife lightly along the mold line. Use a motion which draws the blade away from your fingers, hands, and body to avoid injury. To remove flash, there's no substitute for a razor-sharp X-Acto knife.
What causes a short shot?
A short shot occurs when the flow of molten material doesn't completely fill the cavities in a mold. The result is that the molded component is incomplete after cooling. Short shot might appear as incomplete compartments in plastic shelves of a display or missing prongs on a plastic fork, for example.
What causes overpacking?
Overpacking occurs when extra material is compressed in one flow path while other flow paths are still filling.

What is flash on a casting?
Flash or flashing is the material that is left on the casted part due to the 'seam' of the mould. The material enters into the seam of the mould slightly and when removed from the mould leaves a thin wafer of material attached. This is common and simple to remove with simple methods.

The model is nicely produced and fits together well without any need for gluing. The gun rotates through 360 degrees and elevates too, just like the real thing. Although inevitably simplified to a degree the detail is good, so this is a really well done model. The gun was usually crewed by eight plus an officer, so the eight figures in this box are slightly below a full complement. They ...
