What are the different types of British Airways long haul Economy tickets?

From April 2018, British Airways offers you a choice of two fare types when you fly in our long haul economy cabin (World Traveller): Basic and Standard. This extra choice gives you more freedom to select and only pay for the benefits and services you need.

Are meals included in the price of British Airways flights?

On long haul, British Airways meals are included in the price of your ticket. Expect a four-course meal, followed by a lighter snack service just before landing at your destination. Non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages are also free.

There is no rule, it all depends on your perception. For me I classify anything over 11hrs as longhaul. 7hrs-10hrs is mid haul. Short haul anything less than 6hrs.

In it for the long-haul Full-service airlines, like British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Singapore Airlines, usually provide at least one hot meal, snacks and drinks, included in the price of your ticket on a long-haul flight.

Can I take my own food on a British Airways flight?

You can take solid foods like sandwiches, biscuits, fruit, nuts, etc. on board but the same restrictions for liquids apply to liquid foods, e.g. drinks, soups, sauces, jam or jelly (see guidance above).

Is 8 hours a long-haul flight?

Remember that anything over 6 hours flying time is considered long haul, but flights of longer than 10 hours are not uncommon either. One important thing to remember is to keep your seat belt fastened at all times in case of unexpected turbulence.

Airbus A350-1000

As at November 2021, eight Airbus A350-1000 aircraft are in BA’s fleet with a remaining 10 to be delivered. These Airbus A350s are in a three class configuration, with no First Class. There are 56 Club World “Club Suite” seats, 56 World Traveller Plus seats, and 219 World Traveller seats.

Airbus A380

Having been grounded due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these aircraft are returning to long operations.

Boeing 777-300ER

All operate in a four class configuration. Prior to COVID-19, it ordinarily operated routes such as Austin, Hong Kong, Sao Paulo, Singapore-Sydney, and Tokyo Haneda. It worked well paired with the A380 as it was on Hong Kong and Singapore.

Boeing 777-9

In February 2019, IAG ordered 18 Boeing 777-9 aircraft for BA, with options for 24 further aircraft.

Boeing 787-8

These all operate in a three class configuration, with no First Class. They fly on routes such as Baltimore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lahore, Montreal, Nashville, New Orleans, Pittsburgh and Portland.

Boeing 787-9

These aircraft all operate in a four class configuration, with an 8 seat First Class cabin.

Boeing 787-10

BA has 2 Boeing 787-10 aircraft in its fleet, with a further 10 on order.
